READ's Reading and Writing Camp

READ's 2017 Summer Reading and Writing Camp was a splashing success! Surf's Up, Geronimo! was used in week 1 to study the oceans! The campers participated in the H2O Olympics, learned about the layers of the oceans and the creatures that live there, and made - and ate - graham cracker plate tectonics! Week 2 was a study of Ancient Egypt using Geronimo Stilton's Curse of the Cheese Pyramid! The campers became archaeologists, mummified apples, learned about simple machines, and read How the Sphinx Got to the Museum with Howard County Sheriff Bill McMahon!!

READ's 2018 Summer Reading and Writing Camp will once again be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School! Each day will include all academic areas: reading, writing, math, social studies, science, and art. A multisensory approach will be used in all teaching and learning. Stay tuned for registration information!

TESTIMONIALS

After attending 1 week of READ's Summer Reading and Writing Camp last year, my daughter asked to sign up for an additional week this year. She's already asking about next year!

When I ask her how her day was, I don't hear "Fine" or "Okay." Instead, I learned about the oceans and Ancient Egypt! It's reading, writing, crafting, STEM, and cooking camps all rolled into one without the hassle of multiple sign ups and logistics. THANKS, READ!

My daughter really likes READ's Summer Reading and Writing Camp! She has been reading a lot on her own since then! - Andrew

We can't say enough good things about READ's Summer Reading and Writing Camp! Not only were our two boys engaged while at the camp, but it extended into the evenings and ever since. The structure of the day worked very well for mid-summer; to reignite their interest in learning through fun and innovative methods. They are active boys and we loved the interactions and down time. We loved the close-knit group and focused attention the boys received (and they did, too).

We can't wait until next year's camp! Thank you, again.
